Fire Alarms at MECC

Fire Alarms at MECC
Posted on 02/05/2018

Today at 8:36am, our fire alarm sounded. Our staff and Mason Fire Department determined that the rubber vibration isolator in one of the school’s hot water pipes had burst. At 8:48am the Fire Department gave us the all clear for students to come into the building as there was no fire or danger to students or staff. Our heat and lunches are not impacted by this incident. The school’s exterior alarms continued to go off while we removed steam from the boiler room and some areas in the back of the school. Students did hear the alarms as they were coming off the bus, and we made an announcement to students at 9:15am to let them know how proud we were of how they listened and acted this morning, and to reassure them that everybody is safe.

Students are in their classrooms and enjoying a great day of learning. Thanks for your partnership!
