Project Excellence Recognizes MECC Teacher

Project ExcellenceThis spring, Mason Early Childhood Center kindergarten and first grade teacher Laura Martin was honored at the Area Progress Council's 32nd Annual Project Excellence dinner at the Warren County Career Center on Wednesday, May 1.

Martin was nominated for the award by her peers. Next year, she will begin a new role - PK-6 Mental Wellness Coordinator.

"Laura is an excellent teacher both inside and outside of her own classroom. She is nurturing and supportive with every student in her room, and exemplifies that approach as a role model in our building as well," shared MECC Principal Melissa Bly. "Laura supports and coaches other teachers in supporting students who have communication and behavioral needs. Her instructional strategies are research based and she employs those with a loving and caring approach each and every day."

Personal characteristics of Project Excellence winners include consistency, friendliness, possessing value of other's feelings, self-confidence, organization, imagination, and of course, a joy of teaching.
